Ophthalmology Pharmacy
APS Pharmacy utilizes its state-of-the-art cleanroom to compound injectables, drops, and other sterile compounds for the eye(s). To ensure sterility and allow for peace of mind, the products prepared in our pharmacy undergo tests for sterility by either an independent laboratory or by in-house testing.

Whether you need pre-mixed products, hard-to-find products, preservative-free topicals, or combo drops, APS Pharmacy can provide innovative solutions for you and/or your patients. Our pharmacists and compounding staff are always available to consult with you about your particular medication need.

The following products represent our most commonly dispensed ophthalmic medications.

Avastin™
Avastin™ (bevacizumab) is being used by retinal specialists (as an off-label use) in the treatment of wet macular degeneration, or AMD. Wet AMD is a serious, vision-threatening condition. In wet AMD abnormal blood vessels behind the retina start to grow in the area of the retina known as the macula. These blood vessels leak blood and fluid causing damage to the macula and loss of vision. Studies have shown Avastin™ (bevacizumab) to benefit wet macular degeneration patients.

Our pharmacy is one of only a select group of compounding pharmacies authorized by Genentech, the manufacturer of Avastin®, to prepare Avastin(tm) for use on ophthalmic patients.

Pre-filled syringes are available for next-day delivery (refrigerated). Available in 2 MG/0.08 ML and 2.5 MG/0.1 ML or custom doses (call for availability). Contact us for more information.

Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Drops (Human & Veterinary Use)
APS Pharmacy is one of only a few authorized compounders of the patented cyclosporine eye drops for the use in treating keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) in dogs and for the treatment of KCS and chronic dry eye in human patients. Cyclosporine applied topically actually increases tearing. Various strengths and volumes available.

Mitomycin
Available in various concentrations, available as drops or as an injection are available for in-office procedures. There is no need to hassle with dilution calculations or wasted medication. We compound the correct dose in our certified, sterile clean room and deliver a ready-to-use product directly to your office.

Fortified Antibiotic Drops
Vancomycin, Ceftazdine, Gentamycin, and many others are available in customized or increased concentrations to treat your patients. These can be prepared as drops or injections.

Preservative-Free Medications
The elimination of an allergy or adverse reaction could be the difference between success and failure in an ophthalmic procedure. We have the ability to compound preservative-free and additive-free preparations, including topical solutions and intraocular injections that save your patients from discomfort and speed recovery time. Examples of some preservative-free ophthalmics include: Triamcinolone Acetonide, Timolol, Prednisolone, Dexamethasone, etc.

We can provide sterile compounds which contain a wide variety of ophthalmic medications, from Amphotericin-B, Chloramphenicol, Idoxuridine, Methylprednisolone, to Vitamin A ophthalmic ointment and others, in a variety of strengths. Our dedicated laboratory staff has the knowledge and completes the research to ensure a stable, sterile, effective product for your patients.
